My Favorite Nonfiction Book

On the back cover:
CAUTION: Book will explode if scanned

This sets the tone for the book. It's funny, easy to read, and now I know what to do if I am in a small passenger plane and the pilot has a heart attack. This book may well save my life someday. LOL

Sewing

Easter's coming up, and with Easter comes Easter dresses. Only problem is that they're expensive new, rare finds in thrift stores, and almost none are suitable (Right size, length, neckline, sleeves, etc.). So I am going to make my own. Sewing dresses still isn't cheap (Nice fabric runs at least $6 a yard) but it's a lot cheaper than paying $60-$90 for a dress online. It's a matter of practicality. So, yesterday I was at Joann's and I bought this pattern:

As you can see, that pattern is sleeveless. But earlier I saw this page from the 30s. Looks fairly simple.

I still didn't want to spend $6 a yard if the sleeves or fit ended up not working. Professionals make a sample out of muslin first. I decided to do something similar - I am making it out of some blue satin (?) for $3 a yard. Muslin is about the same price now. If it doesn't work I didn't waste too much money, and if it does I can either wear it or make another and give the first away.
